Arsenal Football Club has been hit with another injury blow as Thomas Partey is set to miss the next two rounds due to an ankle injury.
The Ghanaian midfielder was forced off during the Gunners' 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday, and will now be out for at least three weeks.
Partey's absence comes just days after he helped Arsenal reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup against Aston Villa last week, but he will not be available for their match against Liverpool in the Champions League or their upcoming matches against Tottenham and West Ham.
Manager Mikel Arteta said: "Thomas had an issue with his ankle which we have seen before, so it's something that we need to monitor closely."
Arteta added: "We're going to have to manage without him for the next few games, so we'll see how it goes. But I'm sure he'll come back stronger than ever when he returns."
The loss of Partey could be a big blow for Arsenal, who are currently fourth in the Premier League table and hoping to make a push for a top-four finish this season.
However, Arteta remains optimistic about the team's chances of success, saying: "I believe in our ability to play well together and work hard as a group. We've shown that in the past and we'll continue to do so."
